Operations Analyst – CPV Retail

Competitive Power Ventures, Inc. CPV is seeking an Operations Analyst to join its Retail Power Operations team in Houston. This role supports the daily operations of the customer order-to-cash lifecycle, with a focus on payments, collections, and customer care. The analyst will work with customers, brokers, utilities, vendors, and internal teams to resolve issues, maintain accurate processes, and identify opportunities to improve operations.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Carry out operational processes for commercial retail power customers and contribute to related policies and procedures.
  • Follow established controls, identify gaps, and recommend improvements to controls and procedures.
  • Review assigned processes for efficiency and effectiveness and recommend ways to improve them.
  • Validate incoming payments against customer invoices.
  • Research and resolve questions from brokers and customers and communicate solutions clearly.
  • Proactively coordinate with customers and utilities to address collection issues.
  • Investigate discrepancies between payment and billing details.
  • Monitor the customer care line and respond to customer questions.
  • Manage the payment portal for direct-billed customers.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 2 to 5 years of experience in Retail Energy operations, preferably in PJM market
  • Bachelor’s degree in business related field or additional experience in Retail Energy Operations
  • Must demonstrate effective critical thinking skills, problem-solving capabilities, and ability to independently research and communicate resolution of complex issues
  • Detail-oriented and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent Customer Service skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate complex issues effectively and concisely
  • Strong understanding and functional ability in Microsoft Suite of products. Excel, Word, etc.
  • Experience in Payment Applications, Collections, and/or Customer Care. Experience in all three a plus.
  • Understanding of EDI transactions
  • Understanding of quantitative data analysis, a plus
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis, with a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Must pass a pre-employment background check, including a criminal and civil check, financial credit, driving record and social security verification
