CPV Fairview
Fairview Energy Center

Community Benefits

Significant New Revenue

The project has created substantial local and regional benefits including hundreds of millions of dollars in private infrastructure investment, significant revenue for the state in sales tax during construction and hundreds of thousands of dollars in revenues for local governments and businesses. Based on CPV’s experience, the positive economic benefits across the community and region will be dramatic for years to come.

Significant Local Economic Activity

Built in 28 months by local and national contractors, CPV Fairview required 2.6 million manhours and more than 600 union labor workers.

Now operational, the energy center employs 23 full-time staff earning approximately $3 – 4 million dollars in annual salaries and benefits and the project also provides around 75 ancillary jobs to the local community.

 A New Community Partner

CPV takes the long view with our projects. We know for them to be a true success, they must stand the test of time. That’s why we have played an active role in Jackson Township and intend to do so for many years to come. From sponsoring key community events like the Jackson Heritage Festival and organizations such as the Central Cambria Education Foundation, to providing support for the Jackson Township Volunteer Fire Department, we believe strongly in investing in the communities in which we operate and invest.

Environmental Benefits:

Water Use:

As part of CPV’s commitment to conserving natural resources, the facility utilizes industrial water from the Cambria Somerset Authority (CSA) for non-contact cooling purposes, sourced through a new 8-mile, 24″ pipeline and 2 electric-powered pump stations built by CPV and owned and operated by CSA. Once the water cycles through the plant multiple times, it is treated and returned to the CSA as reclaimed water where it can be used again for industrial processes.

Combined-Cycle Technology:

CPV Fairview is one of the most efficient generators in Pennsylvania, deploying GE’s industry-leading combined cycle gas turbines operating with >63% net combined cycle efficiency.

Dual Fuel:

CPV Fairview is the only GE-supplied facility with dual ethane and natural gas capability: the facility is capable of blending ethane with natural gas by virtue of GE’s DLN2.6+ combustion system for enhanced plant economics.

Brownfield Redevelopment:

Once a salvage yard classified as a brownfield site, the Fairview site was revitalized for the project including the hauling and removal of 178,355 tons of buried debris, 10 underground storage tanks, and .63 miles of underground piping.
