CPV is looking for a Director of State Government and Regulatory Affairs to join its External Affairs team. This position can be located in either Braintree, MA or Silver Spring, MD and will report directly to the SVP of External & Regulatory Affairs. In this role, you will develop state legislative and regulatory strategies, outreach plans and lobby activity while managing all third-party government relations support. Teamwork is your key to success as you partner and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders including development teams, asset managers, trade groups, community leaders, environmental groups, and business leadership.


  • Develop and execute state government and regulatory strategies across the company footprint to support our development activities and current operations.
  • Provide leadership for and guidance to our third-party government relations firms across the portfolio.
  • Act as CPV’s representative in state legislative and regulatory outreach activities on key issues.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with regulatory staff, trade associations, industry representatives, and other relevant stakeholders active in public policy decision-making.


  • Undergraduate degree in Economics, Engineering, Political Science, Communications, Public Relations, or other related field (or equivalent experience) is required. A graduate degree in any of these fields is also highly desirable.
  • Seven (7) + years' experience in government/regulatory relations with power generation or utility experience strongly desired.
  • Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills with a strong entrepreneur mindset, eager to learn and grow their position and role in the team
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and be able to manage several tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment with a key towards accurate and economic execution

  • Must pass a pre-employment criminal background and financial credit check

CPV offers a hybrid work arrangement allowing employees to work remotely up to two (2) days per week, subject to in-office obligations. Required collaboration days in the office are Tuesday and Wednesday, plus one additional day (either Monday, Thursday, or Friday).
