CPV is seeking a Systems Accountant to join our Accounting team in Silver Spring, MD. CPV manages multiple power plant projects and holding companies that require accounting and financial services. CPV is a material subsidiary of OPC Energy, therefore, CPV must conform to public company reporting standards under IFRS and financial controls pursuant to SOX. This individual will help support these services, standards and controls.


This individual will support the day-to-day operations of our Accounting Systems, as well as assist with Treasury and Project Accounting duties. This position is responsible for addressing systems support requests, and assisting the Director of Accounting Systems as we implement system improvements and controls to ensure SOX regulation compliance. The position will also provide support to the project accounting team in accounting for a number of development projects and perform treasury functions for a number of managed companies.

This position reports to the Director of Accounting Systems and will work closely with others in the Accounting department, the IT department, others within the organization and external contractors that support our Accounting Systems.


Responsibilities

  • Maintain certain system data to include, but not limited to: Entities, Projects, Chart of Account Segments, Department, Checkbooks
  • Troubleshoot and fix accounting related system issues
  • Monitor system performance and assist in identifying system issues
  • Assist in testing system upgrades with the IT department and external support contractors
  • Assist in the design and implementation of internal system controls to provide quality assurance over financial data
  • Review and maintain all financial systems policies and procedures
  • Collaborate with Accounting team members and IT staff to identify and meet business requirements
  • Train and support Accounting team members in the use of Accounting systems and procedures
  • Support the internal and external audit process
  • Assist the project accounting team on development projects
  • Perform treasury management services for various projects and companies utilizing a number of different platforms

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree is required in accounting or business-related concentration
  • Minimum of 2 years of general ledger accounting, systems, analysis, account reconciliation and month-end accounting close experience
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Prior accounting experience, in public or corporate organization, with real estate or energy businesses preferred
  • Detail-oriented, organized, the ability to handle a high volume of data, and manage several tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office and spreadsheets
  • Proficiency with fully integrated ERP Systems (Microsoft Dynamics GP is a plus) and automated workflow tools
  • Excellent project organizational and effective teamwork skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with an emphasis on superior customer service
  • Strong problem solving/analytical skills
  • Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check and financial credit check

  • Advanced computer software skills, including Excel macros

CPV offers a hybrid work arrangement allowing employees to work remotely up to two (2) days per week, subject to in-office obligations. Required collaboration days in the office are Tuesday and Wednesday, plus one additional day (either Monday, Thursday, or Friday).
