CPV is seeking a Director of Tax to join our Accounting team in Silver Spring, MD. CPV manages a complex, consolidated holding company structure that ultimately holds equity interests in utility-scale power plant projects. The holding and project companies require tax compliance, provision and planning at the federal and state levels. There are both corporate and flow-through entities within the structure. In addition to income tax responsibilities, there are also some non-income tax projects, primarily involving sales and use and/or property tax matters. CPV must conform to public company reporting standards and financial controls pursuant to SOX.
CPV offers a hybrid work arrangement allowing employees to work remotely up to two (2) days per week, subject to in-office obligations. Required collaboration days in the office are Tuesday and Wednesday, plus one additional day (either Monday, Thursday, or Friday). Manage and oversee the annual income tax compliance process for the holding and project companies, including for projects managed by CPV
Manage and oversee the quarterly tax provision process for the holding companies
Manage and oversee the quarterly estimated tax and planning processes for operating projects
Manage outside tax advisors working on income and non-income tax matters
Review, analyze and respond to various tax notices
Assist is advancing policies and procedures for the tax department to maintain, store and manage data, in compliance with SOX
Assist in the tax planning and structuring processes for the company and planned, future growth activities
Utilize, update and maintain accounting information using Excel, Microsoft Dynamics GP and automated workflow tools
Bachelor’s degree, along with advanced coursework, is required in accounting or business-related concentration
Minimum of 7 years’ of tax compliance, provision and planning experience, including both corporate and flow-through entities
Excellent written communication skills, particularly with respect to MD&A, financial statement footnotes, and reports to boards of directors
Excellent verbal communications skills
Detail-oriented, organized, the ability to handle a high volume of data, and manage several tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment
Strong technical tax accounting background, both income and non-income tax matters
Strong proficiency in MS Office and spreadsheets
Proficiency with fully integrated ERP Systems (Microsoft Dynamics GP is a plus) and automated workflow tools
Excellent project organizational and effective teamwork skills
