CPV is seeking a Manager of Commodity Settlements to join our Accounting team in Silver Spring, MD. We maintain a shared services environment to perform commodity settlements on behalf of both owned and third-party managed power plant projects. CPV manages power plants across the US that require revenue billing, invoice review and verification and invoice dispute resolution, all to be performed in accordance with existing contractual provisions. In this operational role, the ideal individual will have hands-on responsibility to interact with the Company’s Energy Management, Asset Management, Project Accounting and other personnel. This position is responsible for performing the preparation of and/or timely and accurate review and verification of commodity invoices in compliance with counterparty contracts. This position will also perform account reconciliations and other recurring accounting tasks in conformity with an accounting monthly close schedule. It is important for this individual to perform the Company’s commodity A/P and A/R settlement functions timely, accurately and in compliance with the Company’s internal control framework.
This position reports to the VP of Accounting.


  • Timely review and reconciliation of accounts receivable and accounts payable commodity invoices.
  • Preparation of commodity and trade settlement invoices.
  • Ensure reconciled invoices are properly coded and entered into the Company’s accounting system, including certain automated workflow tools
  • Manage CPV employees who support the commodity settlements function
  • Resolve discrepancies between third party data and the Company’s data by working with the Company’s Energy Management personnel
  • Manage the commodity customer and vendor set-up process
  • Assist in the Company’s credit risk monitoring by ensuring commodity cash receipts are recorded timely in the accounting system
  • Utilize, update and maintain commodity settlement information using Excel, OfficeCast, Dynamics GP and automated workflow tools
  • Review staff work, including data entry and reconciliations


  • Energy industry and/or commodity settlement experience preferred
  • Proactive and able to work with those from other Company departments and third-party representatives
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective management and development of staff
  • Excellent organizational and teamwork skills
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and the ability to multi-task several priorities in a high volume, deadline driven, and fast-paced environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a business-related concentration preferred
  • Minimum 6 years’ experience in A/P a A/R functions, and other basic general ledger accounting, financial accounting systems and analysis
  • Proficient in Microsoft Dynamics GP and automated workflow tools
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office and Excel spreadsheets
